Rear bumper bar sealer.

HQ rear bar 6/74 Adelaide Built.
Make sure when assembling your project you use chalking compound around the bolts.
Failing to do this will entice water leaks.
Note the screw securing the tail light is a Philips head this seems to be only on 1974 and above cars.
The screw is silver zinc with a gold zinc star washer.
There is a total of six.

Preslite wiper motor

Gold or rainbow zinc.

LUCAS Wiper motor

Here is a genuine lucas wiper motor cover.
These stickers are like a sticky tape.
White glue on a clear tape.
The armature housing was silver zinc.

PBR Caliper colour

One thing I have noticed with all my 1973 calipers is they seem to be painted a red brown colour.
I have checked all my 1973 calipers and they are all the same.
Melbourne or Brisbane same red brown.
If you check the photo you will see the witness of the surface finish.
All my 1971 and 1972 calipers are in natural steal.

Rear springs part number

SS GEAR BOX

Gear box back from reconditioning. Once again the L comes up 11 month 1972.
This box was manufactured on the 13/11/1972 well at lest that is what the numbers and letter say. American layout with the month first.
Also the side of the box has a number as well.( Both on the main casting)
T439477 is on the end closest to the diff.

Hose clamps Radiator

Here is a set of original radiator clamps. These do upper and lower on Aussie V8.
They have the part number stamped on them (SP 1572). This number corresponds with the genuine holden number in the parts book.
There are finished in gold or rainbow zinc. The screw is in silver zinc.
They also have a straight blade screw slot.
Detail of the heater hose clamps will follow.

Oil pressure sender

Oil pressure sender.
One thing I am noticing is that electrical parts seen to run further behind in time of manufacture than mechanical parts.
This sender was produced 10/1972
roughly 8 weeks prier to the cars assembly. 12/1072

Factory sealer

Dipper switch sealer on floor pan.

Here is a image of the sealer (chalking compound ) used on the screws that mount the dipper switch to the floor pan.
This is another area if not finished correctly will let water into the car.
Also take note of the firewall and floor pan colour they are not black.
This is a genuine HQ untouched 10/73

There is a definite pattern to this car most date codes are L.

Harness decals

Rear wiring harness tape flag. Width 31mm Length 74 mm.
These have a white background with black lettering.
They appear to have come of a tape dispenser with a serration on each end. Witch i suspect was on the dispenser.
This is located on the rear tail light loom on the RH side inside the boot aprox 140mm from the connection.Towards the beaver tail.
Point of interest here is that Melbourne cars i have seen use a vynal tape.
Sydney cars i have seen use a cellophane type tape.
Brisbane cars I have seen use cellophane tape as well. I suspect we will never know it all.

Ok here is one more date code located on the side of a PBR Booster.
This booster is from a 12/1972 HQ Sydney built Car.

Shocks

Front shock HQ 253 308 350 GM PN/2819936 This is the GM number IN PARTS BOOK.
The number on the shock is (this only appears on the shock 2819938 and are coloured Black)
I need a pair of these.
Also rears for HQ SS 2818500 GM PN.
Shock marked as(This only appears on the shock 2818310) also used on statesman coloured army looking dark green.
I need a pair of these.

diff code??????

Check this one I located this on the LH Shock mount on the diff Housing It looks like they made these around the clock.This one at 2 AM.
I am not sure that this is true but it sounds good.

Diff HQ holden 12/1972 V8

Here is a photo of the date code on a V8 Holden Salisbury diff.
The number is located on the top side of the diff center.
There is also a part number on the housing it was stamped in paint and was do do with the manufacturing process.

Date codes 12/1972 SS

This HQ SS has original wheel to the best of my knowledge,the rims are the early Canadian type. Next to the valve stem is a series of numbers. They appear to be 9/72 RIMS.
There are other letters and numbers however i have not idea yet to there meaning.
The Canadian wheels are painted grey on the rear side, they also are spot welded unlike the Australian wheel which is stitched welded. The face of the Canadian wheel is slightly different to the Australian wheel.
I would say the outside paint would be 350 silver and 350 grey as normal.
There are also some photos of the masking template we made this is far better then the mask out kits, faster and cheaper and will last a life time, and will help save on land fill.
